Want free Dunedin, Christchurch, or Queenstown wedding photos?? Two great wedding photographers, for free – shooting the stuff they dream of! Read on…

OK. So the other day, I saw some great shots – taken atop a mountain, in a helicopter (as in that’s how they got atop the mountain).

It got me thinking… why doesn’t Hamilton have any mountains??

Then I started to think… well, where does have mountains??? Result = Queenstown / Dunedin / cool South Island places.

So here’s the deal.

People thinking of booking us as their photogs are obviously going to have a few thousand set aside for their photos, right? (or those looking at similar priced photogs).

So – if you’re thinking of having your wedding down there somewhere, why not spend your budget allocated for photography on cool stuff that’s going to ensure getting some AMAZING photos, and have us shoot them, for FREE!

The stipulations…

There must be a helicopter involved… this is cool for you (coz you get to ride in a chopper, and access locations you’d otherwise never be able to) – and cool for us, coz we can shoot some things we’ve been thinking about for ages. The hirage will cost you much less than booking us to photograph at our normal rates!

Ideally, the helicopter shoot could take place the day after the wedding – sort of a “Trash the Dress” / more wedding photos concept. This would take out all the time constraints – no guests to think about being back for – and time to really play with light & locations. It also means you get 2 days worth of our time, for free – rather than one.

Second – the wedding itself would hopefully be somewhere relatively city-ish – eg in one of the main centres down South (Dunedin, Queenstown, Christchurch, etc) – and you’d need to be keen on some “urban-ish” shots for the wedding day photos… think grand old buildings, cool architecture – that’s right, all the stuff that Hamilton is lacking!

Finally, we’d love to have the opportunity to shoot some of those bridal party shots at night… which could suit a winter wedding really well – as it gets dark early – but also, some of those shots could be done the day after too, if it really didn’t fit in.

So basically – to qualify – you have to be into photos!! There’s not much point if you don’t like photos :)

But if you do like photos – and would like the chance to get some really fantastic shots, urban type ones on the wedding day, and then the day after some amazing mountain-top stuff – let us know!

If you book early enough, flights are cheap. So for the cost of some airfares for Amber & myself, a rental car, and accommodation for a few nights – plus the helicopter – you would still probably be spending less than booking us at our standard rates – and you can be guaranteed some really cool shots.

Let us know :)

Glen & Amanda’s wedding photos – sneak peek! Woodlands, Hamilton wedding photos

Hey guys,

Yesterday we had the pleasure of photographing Glen & Amanda’s beautiful wedding – and what a gorgeous day it was!

We kicked off out at Woodlands, where the boys were getting ready…

Then it was off to Amanda’s hairdresser & getting ready shots – this first shot is her nails being put on – with superglue!! (how’s that going, Amanda?? They won’t be going anywhere!)

The tricky supergluing provided a great source of amusement for the family…

Top marks to bridesmaid Lauren – for not gluing herself, or the dress!!

Then it was off to Woodlands for a few quick pre-ceremony shots… and then the rest of the day unfolded from there!

We had a great time – hope the rest of your evening was just as much fun!

Enjoy the images, and will have more on the way soon :)

Brett & Adam’s civil union – sneak peek Auckland wedding photos

Saturday October 24th, 2009 at 9:46 am | No Comments »

Hi guys!

Yesterday, I headed up to Auckland to photograph Brett & Adam’s civil union.

This was the first chance I’d had to shoot a civil union, and I was really excited about it!

Their beautiful ceremony was officiated by Peta Hardley – who is not only Auckland’s most fantastic celebrant, but also Amber’s mum!

After the ceremony & some photos with the family (their families were the only guests – which was so lovely & intimate) – we headed into town for a few photos, finishing up at Sky City where we met up with the families again in the cocktail bar. (It was at this point I realized I’d left my flash in the car – and it was almost pitch black in the bar – very “atmospheric”. The final photo here was a bit of improvisation – standing against the wall lights & looking up… and it looks great!)

Enjoy the photos!

Josh & Danielle’s wedding – sneak peek! Falls Reserve, Henderson, 17th October

Monday October 19th, 2009 at 12:54 am | 5 Comments »

Hi guys,

On Saturday we headed up to Auckland to photograph Josh & Danielle’s wedding at the Falls Reserve in Henderson.

It threatened to rain throughout the morning, and during their ceremony the clouds were gathering – making for some lovely, soft light.

We rushed through the group shots as the first drops came down, and by the time we were ready to leave for some shots with the bridal party, it was really bucketing down!

So we kicked off at the Council buildings, with the shelter provided by the glass building also making for some awesome photos.

We then headed down to another spot in Henderson, and once we arrived the rain cleared up once and for all – giving us some glorious blue skies!

It was a fantastic day – a lovely, intimate, and personal wedding – and we had a great time with you all!

Enjoy the photos :)

The new site – and Maureen & Rino’s wedding – sneak peek!

Monday October 12th, 2009 at 1:40 pm | 3 Comments »

Well!

It has been a long time in the making – but we’re are finally able to introduce to you our new look business & website – Perspectives Photography.

The change has been in the pipeline for ages – ever since we decided we’re not really all that “Instant” and didn’t like the name much any more – but the longer you leave something like this, the more people come to know you as “Instant Wedding Photography” – and the harder it gets!

So we decided to just take the plunge – and as you can see, we’ve also expanded our offerings with a dedicated portrait & commercial photography section – and an entire site that we’ll dedicate to Trash the Dress – conveniently hosted on “trashthedress.co.nz”. There are heaps more wedding galleries ( 6 galleries with about 50 pictures each) and also separate galleries for the TTD, Portrait, and Commercial sections – so hundreds of images to look through!

Huge thanks to our amazing web designer – Joe Brightwell from Pukeko Design Studio – for his toil over the last few months, and for putting up with my fussy redrafts again & again! Also to Sara Cameron from Snow White Design for the gorgeous logo & business cards (and more stuff to come) – another person who had to put up with my pedantic redrafts!

So – what better way to celebrate than with some fantastic pictures (now able to be displayed bigger due to cool new blog!)

We photographed Rino & Maureen’s wedding on the weekend, in Auckland – and had a fantastic time!

The day kicked off at Rino’s place in Mt Albert – then it was over to the Shore for Maureen’s preparations shots. Afterwards, we headed out for some pre-ceremony photos with her and the bridesmaids.
Then it was off to the ceremony at St Johns Church, and into the city after that for some shots with the bridal party.

These began in the Northern Steamship bar – which has the coolest upsidedown lights – and then around the surrounding areas. I love urban wedding photos!

Finally, it was out to Kumeu for their reception at Soljans – where we finished up with a few romantic shots of just Maureen & Rino in the cellar room.

It was an awesome day!

That’s it for now – post some comments & let us know what you think of the photos & the new site look :)
