Perspectives Wedding Photography

Hi guys,

It has been a busy weekend!! On Friday night, Amber & I headed up to Auckland, and went to the Pearl Jam show – it was an awesome night!

Then today we photographed Katie & Ryan’s wedding at Footbridge Lodge in Bombay. Usually, we listen to music really loud while we’re driving out to begin a wedding, to amp ourselves up – but this weekend we had the real thing – so were even more excited!

Katie & Ryan were such a genuine & lovely couple – nothing was too much trouble for them, and they didn’t let the showers of rain stop them from having a fantastic day. Katie’s smile & their laughter shines through in the shots – just too easy to work with! These guys were perfect examples of being relaxed & natural in front of the cameras – and just enjoying themselves!

Yesterday we headed up to the gorgeous Karekare beach to catch up with Sarah & Ian – who had flown over from Canada especially to be married here.

They had 10 of their friends who had flown over with them, and that made up the entire numbers of the wedding – which was so beautiful & intimate.

Prior to the ceremony, everyone was relaxing at the Karekare bach they had hired – a few beers & glasses of bubbles and lots of laughs were had by all.

Then we wandered down to the beach, where they had their ceremony – officiated by Peta Hardley – without a doubt the coolest celebrant in the whole wide world!

Afterwards, we took a few photos of everyone – and then headed off with just Ian & Sarah to make the most of the beautiful New Zealand landscape surrounding us.

Yesterday we had the pleasure of photographing Brad & Karyn’s wedding.

We caught up with the boys in the morning, who were playing a relaxed round of golf out at the Ngahinapouri Golf Club – and then we headed back for a few photos in their suits.

Then it was off to Karyn’s place – where we also caught up with Denise from Spoilt Beauty, who was doing the make-up for Karyn (and always does a fabulous job!).
We had the time for some gorgeous bridal portraits – Karyn’s dress was perfect – and a beautiful long veil too – not to mention a stunning bride!

Their ceremony was in St Peter’s Cathedral – again, fantastic to shoot in. Afterwards, we headed down to the Hamilton gardens for some photos with the bridal party – the cloudy skies looked very dramatic, while holding off the rain!

Our day finished up at the Ferrybank, where their celebrations continued into the night.

It was a gorgeous wedding – thanks for having us along to share a part in it!

I had meant to blog this sooner – things have been crazily busy the last few weeks!

Anyway – many of you will remember the work we’ve done with Pahoia School over the last year or so – ranging from shoots for the rock band “Pahoia United” through to the recent poster work for their film production.

You might have also seen them on Campbell live the other week – for those that missed out, you can see the clip here

Well, last Thursday we went along to the film premiere – and it was AWESOME!

It was held at Baycourt Performing Arts centre in Tauranga, and it was a full house! The evening kicked off with drinks & nibbles – and then the main 9 cast members arrived in a limo – walking in down the red carpet, through a line of their parents & schoolmates.

In the foyer was a big cardboard cutout of the poster we did… which began a few months back with a green screen shoot out at the school…

Which was then followed by plenty of hours in Photoshop clipping out the green, finding backgrounds and textures, and eventually coming up with the final product….

This image was then the basis for the promo posters for the film, and the DVD cover.
The premiere even had a whole table of merchandise for sale – including some cool stickers of each character, which we made up from a cutout of each single character, over top of the same background as the poster.

We then went into the theatre room to see the film itself – in a word, INCREDIBLE.
An hour & a half epic – it really was an amazing accomplishment – even including aerial footage shot from a microlight!

Finally – a few days before we went to the premiere, we found out that two of our Pahoia School images had won Kodak Gold Awards – the film poster, and also a shot of Amber’s from the second Pahoia United shoot!

We are so proud to have had the opportunity to work with such an amazing school – those kids are going to remember their experiences their entire lives – and it just goes to show, kids are capable of anything!

Hi guys,

On Saturday we headed up to Castaways on Kariotahi beach to photograph Ebony & Steve’s wedding.

I LOVE Castaways!! This is the third wedding I’ve shot there (but it was Amber’s first, so she was very excited!) – they are a fantastic venue, that really look after their clients.

It was also great to catch up with make up artist Deb Tan, and celebrant Helena Dixon – both of whom are fantastic at what they do!

We met up with Ebony at home to get some makeup shots, and then it was off to the beach to see the boys.

After the getting ready shots, we whisked the bridal party down to the beach for some pre-ceremony photos – it was so windy!!

Back up on top of the cliff, the guests had arrived, and we headed back up for the ceremony – followed by some group shots overlooking the water – lucky I bought my big flash setup, as it was so bright and sunny!

Finally, we snuck back down to the beach with just Steve & Ebony for a few more shots – the clouds had arrived by this time, making for some amazing dramatic skies & beautiful light! (although the loss of the sun meant it got cold – well done Ebony for not showing it!!).

It was a beautiful wedding – and we had so much fun photographing it!

Last weekend, we had a fantastic time hanging out with Craig, Lisa, and their gorgeous kids – with a portrait shoot down at Lake Karapiro.

Hey guys,

Over the weekend I went down to Oamaru – with the dual purpose of visiting my family (which was lovely) – and also doing a shoot in the beautiful old building district with Charlotte.

We kicked off at a really cool field about half an hour out of Oamaru – lots of yellow stuff!

Then we headed into town, and got some great shots around the old buildings, doorways, and surrounding areas. Thanks also to Charlotte’s husband, who (while not overly keen for photos) did a fantastic job of helping with the lighting – which really makes a huge difference

You’ll notice that although I’ve called this shoot a “Trash the Dress” – there’s no actual “trashing” – just a fantastic opportunity to wear the dress again & get some great shots!
