Hi guys,
On Saturday, we headed out to Sarnia Park in Cambridge to photograph Mark & Melissa’s wedding.
Our day kicked off with some shots of the guys… for people that said they never wear suits, they looked pretty comfortable!

Then it was out to Sarnia Park… just to be sure we remembered their names later on (not really!), I snapped a quick frame of this at the gate..

Melissa had some beautiful details – gorgeous dress, shoes, and lovely flowers by Karen..

And she looked amazing.

Super cute flowergirls:

Their ceremony was on the croquet lawn – which for us was a nice change! It also faces just the right direction for the light – making it a bit easier for us to shoot… and finally, there’s a great high angle spot to get some “different” perspectives on the ceremony!

After the ceremony, we made a beeline for shade – both to get the bridal party out of the sun, and also to take advantage of the softer light under the trees..

Every single wedding, we do something that we’ve never shot before. It can be as simple as this variation on the lake shot – we’ve never before shot something that includes the leaves in the front.. I like the way that they frame the photo.

For the last part of the bridal party photos, we headed down to a nearby field – where the vibrance of the blue sky & green grass really made for eye catching shots!

We finished up back at Sarnia Park – where the sun was lowering in the sky, and things were shaping up to be an awesome night!
Here’s one last, lovely image we got just before we headed away…

It was a beautiful wedding – thanks so much for inviting us along to share a part in it!
Enjoy the photos – and we’ll have more on the way soon
Isaac, Amber, and Holly.

Hey guys!
We’re on the hunt for an Auckland based photography assistant.
Our fabulous assistant Holly will continue working for us with our weddings down in the Waikato region – but we’re also looking for 1 or 2 Auckland based people that are keen to work with us.
So… who are we looking for??
Basically – to us, personality is the most important, key aspect. We can teach you the finer points of photography, but if you can’t relate to our clients, it won’t work!
You don’t need to have any photography related qualifications – but having a good eye is essential. While a reasonable understanding of photographic concepts is useful, we’ll also be able to help & teach you all the things you need to know.
You need to be available on weekends.
You need to be happy
Appreciation of good coffee gives you bonus points.
You need to be able to relate to stressed out brides, disinterested groomsmen, tantrum throwing flowergirls, doting grandparents, and the various other people we come across at weddings.
You need to be able to think on your feet – and two steps ahead, showing your initiative when required.
You need to actually like weddings. Believe it or not, some wedding photographers don’t – and you can always tell.
If you have your own gear, it’s a bonus. If it’s Canon, it’s even better (mainly because you can then use lenses from our bag!).
We’re also looking for someone to assist with the editing side of things – which might end up being the same person as described above, or someone different. Some experience using Lightroom, and Photoshop, is handy. We’re really flexible on the hours this would be – weekdays, nights, whatever.
As you can tell, we’re looking for a bit of a super-person! And the pay is crap.
But – you get to come along to our weddings, with our gorgeous clients, and learn a heap about wedding photography. You’ll start as a 3rd photographer – so you’re never being thrown in the deep end & relied upon to deliver certain shots, every wedding both Isaac & Amber will be there too.
If you think that you’d be interested – we’d love to hear from you. Here’s what to do.
Send an email through to info@perspectivesphotography.co.nz – with a bit about yourself, your photography experience – basically, bearing in mind the list of superpowers above!
Send us a portfolio of your best work. We’d love to see 15 – 20 images, with a range of lighting / subjects, etc.
Either email the portfolio (make sure they’re low res enough to not kill our email servers!), or courier a print portfolio or disc.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Isaac & Amber.

Hi guys,
On Saturday, we headed out to Sarnia Park in Cambridge, to photograph Shaun & Bec’s wedding at Sarnia Park.
It was perfect timing to catch the cherry blossoms – and their ceremony on the aptly named “Cherry Blossom Lawn” was just perfect – rows of pink leading right up to them.
We kicked off the day with a few shots of Shaun & the boys as they were getting ready in Hamilton.

Then it was off to Sarnia, where we caught up with Bec and her girls – looking stunning.

Flower switch…

Every time we are out at Sarnia, I’ve cursed at the annoying piece of sunlight that puts a weird patch on the stairs. Today, the penny finally dropped, and I actually made use of an amazing feature – working with the light rather than trying to fight it….

It was then off across the lawn to where Shaun, the groomsmen, and guests were eagerly awaiting Bec’s arrival… here’s what it looked like. Fairytale.

After the ceremony, we went off for some photos with the bridal party – kicking off in the cherry blossoms – avoiding the bees!

Heading across to the Sarnia Park lake, it was obvious that the sun was going to play a role – it was so bright that it was basically impossible to look towards the sun… but made for awesome reflections while the bridal party chatted amongst themselves!

With a bit of time up our sleeves, we popped 5 minutes down the road to Lake Karapiro – where Holly shot an angle on the wharf that we’ve never even thought of before… bless her

And some cute shots of Rebecca with her bridesmaids..

Just before we headed off for the evening, we took the chance for one lovely romantic shot back at Sarnia Park – a perfect way to finish off an awesome day.

Thank you both for trusting us to tell the story of your wedding day – it was absolutely perfect, and these shots are only a tiny taste of what’s to come!!
Isaac, Amber, and Holly.

Hey guys,
OK – so we’ve booked up our two advanced seminar courses next weekend – advanced photography, and advanced photoshop.
As it’s turned out – most of the people booked in are professional photographers themselves – we’re really looking forward to it!
However, we’d love to get a few more people along to our beginner level seminars.
As a bit of an incentive… a giveaway!
First: The prize.
The winner will get to come along with us for a wedding fashion shoot. You’ll get to see us in action, we’ll explain the steps behind what we’re doing, there’ll be plenty of off-camera flash (and the explanation of how it all works), posing, hot models, smoke machines, epic locations, and more. It’ll be like the advanced photog seminars – but just you & us, so you get 1 on 1 learning – can ask as many questions as you like, etc. And of course you can shoot away – play with our lights, etc etc. It’s a great way to learn what goes into making our images look the way they do.
Examples of our wedding fashion work (ie the kind of stuff you can come & play with) are:
Our Karangahake Gorge shoot:

Jo’s Trash the Dress:

Our Bride Parade shoots:

and pretty much anything we shoot that involves a gorgeous couple, in a gorgeous setting, with gorgeous lighting, and repetition of the word “gorgeous” too many times.
How to be the winner:
Refer some of your friends / family / random strangers to book in for our beginners photography / photoshop classes.
If they book into one seminar, you get one entry. If they book into both seminars, you get 2 entries. If you get two friends that book into both seminars, you get 4 entries.
So on & so forth.
Whoever has the most entries by Thursday 23rd September at 5.00pm will be the winner.
If only one person enters, and there’s only one entry, you’ll still win.
IMPORTANT – make sure that when you refer people, you tell them to pass your name along to us as the referral – otherwise we’ll never know who to give the entries to!
So get in touch with people that are budding / new photographers – and get them to come along & register on our course, and drop your name while they’re at it!
For more info about the beginners photography course, send your friends to this link:

For details about the beginners Photoshop course, send them to this link:

Look forward to giving this awesome session experience away to someone

Hey guys,
On Saturday – we had an awesome time chilling at Carrington’s with the LifeFM crew & heaps of hopeful couples, for the announcement of the 5 finalists in the ‘Wedding Season” competition.
The venue looked gorgeous all set up, and it was lovely having the chance to chat with many of the couples, and show off some of our albums.
** by the way – if you missed us, and would like us to send through a PDF copy of our ‘wedding guide’ booklet with heaps of tips for planning your wedding day schedule / ideas to keep in mind – send us an email at info@perspectivesphotography.co.nz and we’ll get one out to you.**
You can become Facebook Fans too if you like!
Anyway – eventually, the long awaited announcements came – and 5 lucky couples made it through to the final stages.
Afterwards, we did a quick engagement shoot marathon with each of them – squeezing each couple into a 30 minute slot (where we’d usually spend a few hours!). Condensed time-frame notwithstanding, we got some gorgeous images with each couple – here’s a few of our favs.
Nathan & Gabrielle

Matthew & Hayley

Iain & Kayleigh

Ben & Emily

Sandip & Janice

All these shots were taken around the Unitech grounds, where Carrington’s is – so you can rest assured that you’ve got plenty of great photo options if you book your wedding there… plus of course places like Western Springs or the city centre really close at hand too!
So… which couple would you most like to appear in our photographs? (putting a twist on LifeFM’s comp!!) – you can vote once per day here.
Enjoy the shots guys – and we’ll keep you posted as to who eventually wins!

Hey guys,
Tomorrow, we’ll be at Carrington’s cafe on the Mt Albert Unitec campus, for the finals of the Life FM wedding season promo.
Many of the vendors involved with the promotion will have displays of their lovely wares – and we’ll be there from 10am onwards with our lovely Queensberry albums
So if you’ve been wanting to meet us – either to chat about your wedding day, or to see what a Queensberry album looks like, or even just to geek out about photography – this is a great time!
Here’s a map to Carrington’s (who are the venue hosting the free wedding that Life FM are organizing)

Life FM will be doing a bit of live broadcasting from the event, and the finalists will be selected on the day too. I’m pretty sure that finalists need to be there in person to qualify, so there’ll be plenty of hopeful couples there!! The doors open at 10am, and we’ll be free to chat until around 2pm.
Then we’ll be off shooting an engagement session marathon – as each couple that makes the finals will get an engagement session, which we’re shooting on the day
Special offer alert….
We have some free session vouchers – they can be used to get either an engagement shoot, a Trash the Dress shoot, or a family portrait shoot. If you come down & chat with us tomorrow, and mention that you saw this offer on our blog… we’ll hook you up with a free voucher.
Plus – you get to check out our amazing album that we’ve just put together for one of Auckland’s most exclusive wedding venues.. which we received back from Queensberry yesterday, will be on display at the show tomorrow, and then delivered to the venue on Sunday. So come & have a look before we (unfortunately) give it away!
Look forward to meeting some of you gorgeous people tomorrow.
Isaac & Amber.

On the 30th August, 2008, we were out in the winter air, photographing Matt & Mel’s wedding.
Exactly 2 years on, we were again out in the winter air – this time in Raglan instead of Auckland – photographing the same gorgeous couple again.
Matt decided to surprise Mel with a weekend away in Raglan for their anniversary, along with a fun portrait shoot down on the beach.
It was so much fun to catch up with them again, and the late afternoon light was delicious. It was SO cold & windy – but totally worth it for some beautiful shots.
Here’s a little peek at what we got up to…
