Yesterday we photographed Jonathan & Holly’s wedding, at a variety of locations – beginning in Cambridge, then the ceremony at Matamata Presbyterian Church, then to Lake Karapiro for some photos, then on to Tamahere for some more photos and the reception at Gail’s.
We were happy to see some clouds – this is the first Saturday in about 2 months that it hasn’t been bright blue sunny skies. The clouds are great for us – as they soften the shadows & make the light less harsh, and also everyone stays a bit cooler! Clouds also make for great dramatic skies – like the lovely skies we got over Lake Karapiro!
Enjoy the photos, and stay tuned for more soon!

Here are a few more shots from Tim & Shannon’s wedding last weekend at the Mystery Creek Heritage Village.
As promised, there are the shots from the cool old garage, along with some of our other favourites from the day.

Hey guys,
It’s been a hectic week – I was running a school camp, which involved 4 days of surfing at various beaches around the North Island. Now this might sound like a pretty sweet deal, but when you’re responsible for students in the water, it’s actually quite draining! When you include driving a van to & from Hamilton to Raglan, Whangamata, etc each day, it all adds up to a tiring experience!
So all last week I had no energy whatsoever once I got home each evening – hence the quiet on the blog front!
Never fear, however, because I am now officially a full-time professional photographer (which I find very exciting!) – school has finished, and I have now left the teaching profession to devote more time to our business. I’m very excited about the prospect of actually having evenings off – getting all my processing done during the day & then having some downtime!
Anyway – without further ado – more from Lisa & Leighton’s wedding! Enjoy the photos, and keep an eye out for the online gallery in the next few days.

Hi guys,
Today we photographed Tim & Shannon’s wedding at the Heritage Village at Mystery Creek.
Their gorgeous son, Cooper, came along for some photos, looking very suave in his outfit!
Like the last few weekends, the sun was out in full force – so we tried to incorporate shade into the photo shoot – both to soften the shadows, and for some relief from the heat!
A big yellow shed provided a cool setting for some vibrant images, as well as the beautiful gardens & river for the more traditional ‘heritage village’ aspect. There was also a neat old gas station – but you’ll have to wait until next post for those ones!
It was a really lovely day – thanks to you both for inviting us to share a part in it!
Enjoy the photos, and stay tuned for more in the near future!

Hey all,
Here are a few more shots from Ken & Laura’s wedding a week ago – a little something to keep you going!!
I’ve yet to get to bed before 1am the last few days – looks like it’s going to be one of those weeks!
(and it’s not even February yet!)
Although the good news is that I soon get to focus 100% of the time on weddings – for those of you who don’t know, Amber & I are also both full-time teachers – which certainly keeps us busy!
So at the moment, it’s teaching in the day-time, editing photos at night, and weddings on weekends! School is nearly finished for the year though, and next year I’m going fulltime into the photography business – so I can do all of this stuff during the day, rather than the small hours of the morning! I’m very excited!
So enjoy the photos – and we’ll have more up soon!

Yesterday we photographed Leighton & Lisa’s wedding – their ceremony at the Cambridge Seventh Day Adventist church, followed by a photo shoot at the Hamilton Gardens, and then their reception at Mellow Manor in Tamahere.
It was a hot, sunny day – we were all definitely feeling the summer weather kicking in!
Lisa had an amazing dress with a beautiful long veil that just accents all of the photos – it was very cool!
On our way back from the Hamilton Gardens, we stopped off at a field we had discovered last week – complete with rustic old shed! I love the tall wheat grass – especially against the vivid blue of the sky.
We had a fantastic day – thanks to you both for inviting us to share in it!
Enjoy the photos, and stay tuned for more soon.

Hey guys,
Here are a few more shots from James & Jacque’s wedding last weekend – this time I decided to put up a selection of black & white images.
There’s just something about black & white wedding photos. I love how timeless they are – my parents & grandparents have black and white wedding albums… and yet the photos still look amazing today. There’s also something pure about them – the images stand alone, not relying on fancy colour effects or anything – the emotions are allowed to speak for themselves.
Also be sure to check out the online gallery, which is now up on our “recent” page.
Enjoy the photos guys – you were both a pleasure to work with!

Today we photographed Ken & Laura’s wonderful wedding in Te Aroha.
They were such a bubbly, vivacious couple – which really shines through in their photos!
After their ceremony at Te Aroha Baptist Church, we had the fantastic opportunity to spend 4 hours doing the bridal party photos! It was so much fun, I think it’s the longest photo shoot we’ve ever done on a wedding day, but it gave us so much room for variety & different locations, and also meant we could all take our time a bit more. We were absolutely shattered when we arrived back in Hamilton this evening!
Needless to say, if we shoot for 4 hours – we’re gonna get plenty of amazing shots, in fact the 15 I’m sharing now took me about 2 hours to decide upon – there are just so many!
During the shoot we tried to incorporate local features, like Mt. Te Aroha, and the classic town clock. We also shot at this awesome old red barn that Ken & Laura spotted a few weeks ago – one of my favourite locations today.
Thanks to you both for your enthusiasm – and to the bridal party for your patience with us!
Enjoy your honeymoon, and stay tuned for more photos soon.

When we arrived at the boys’ place to shoot their preparations, James said that he’d just returned from putting signs out along the side of the road as a surprise for Jacque on the way to the venue.
We dutifully kept the secret as we photographed the girls’ preparations, and then hopped into the car, wondering what lay ahead.
Their venue was a 20min drive from Hamilton, and along the way were 20 signs – stuck to roadsigns. By the time we arrived at the venue, Amber was nearly in tears – and of course we pulled over & got a shot of each one (sorry to the unsuspecting drivers behind us for all the sudden stops!).
So this is what Jacque saw as she drove out to the ceremony… aren’t they fantastic! Well done James!

Here’s a few more shots from Morgan & Karissa’s wedding at Windy Ridge in Ohaupo two weeks ago.
I particularly like the 3rd shot – the three dresses laid out on the bed, all ready to go – and the cat – who spent the entire time just curled up asleep, without a care in the world. Definitely the least stressed of anyone!
Also a few really high angle ones, which was fun to play with – it’s not every time I can hang over a balcony & shoot straight down, so when the opportunity presents itself I make the most of it (read: go overboard!)
Enjoy the photos – online gallery is up now on the “recent” page, so you can see more there.
